We are looking for experienced and creative community artists to work alongside Chester Performs and Emergency Exit Arts in the lead up to Something Wishful, a large scale spectacular taking place on Chester’s River Dee, on 12th December 2008. Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) is one of the most influential celebratory arts and outdoor performance companies in the UK. www.eea.org.uk
Something Wishful is the closing celebration of Cheshire’s Year of Gardens 2008. The event is based loosely on the Thai Loy Krathong festival, where individuals, schools and communities make handmade structures that are invested with their hopes and wishes and then floated in local rivers and lakes in a mass celebration. Our event will include a mixture of large structures made by professional artists in collaboration with community and school groups, along with individuals and families who will create their own contributions.
We are looking for artists with a mixed skill base and experience of celebratory and community arts, to lead workshops with schools and community groups. These practical sessions will be used to construct and develop content for the event. You will be based out of a dedicated project space in Chester, whilst sessions with schools and groups will take place on location. Dates vary but you need to be available for up to 20 days from 13th October to 12th December.
Fee: £120 per day for 20 days
Deadline: Tuesday 9th September 2008
Start: 13th October 2008
