Although you can view messages without being logged in, you will need to register if you want to use the forums to post your own messages. (This is just to prevent the message board being spammed - we won't contact you if you don't want us to)
2. Add Topic
Once you're logged in, the forum will look just the same, but you'll be able to click on the button on the left-hand side which says 'Add Topic'.

3. Subject
This will be the title of your message. It will appear in dark brown bold lettering (the bold disappears once you've clicked into the post to read it). Use this as your main title - for example if you're posting up a new vacancy, put the job title here.

4. Description
This is like a subtitle, and will appear in orange font so it is not so eye-catching as the subject line. Use this to add some more detail to the title - for example, if you're posting up a new vacancy, put the name of the organisation here.

5. Message
The reader has to click the subject title to go through to the screen where they can read your message. The title doesn't repeat though, so make sure you add your subject and description again before the body of the message.

You can copy and paste the text from another source, such as a Word document. To remove formatting you can paste your text into Notepad first, then copy it from there and paste it in the editing screen. (to find Notepad on your computer, go to Start > All Programmes > Accessories > Notepad)

As in Word, there are a selection of editing tools so you can change the colour, size and style of the font, add hyperlinks, images, bullet points, bold, italics and so on. All these editing tools are in the bar above the message screen.

Spell Check is also an option - this is the centre button underneath the message screen.

6. Preview
It's a good idea to preview your new message before posting it, as the final version which everone sees will look different to the way you see it when you are creating it. If you want to make any changes once you've viewed it, just scroll down a little further and you'll find the editing screen again where you can continue typing.

If you want to preview the message again with the new changes, just click again on Preview - the right-hand button underneath the message screen.
7. Post New Topic
Once you're happy with your message, click Post New Topic - the left-hand button under the message screen.
You'll then be taken back to the list of topics where you will be able to see yours at the top.
Note:
To prevent people leaving messages for you on the forum (such as requesting an application pack), replies to posts are not permitted, so make sure you include your contact details or a link to more information.
