'Partnerships for Older People's Projects' (POPPS) is a government funded approach to helping older people remain independent and well in their own homes for as long as possible.  Tameside is one of only 29 local authorities across the country that has been successful in obtaining funding.  Tameside Museums and Galleries Service has secured funding for the second year running from the Tameside POPPs programme to continue its work that started in December 2008.  Funding for the second year of work will begin in April 2010 – end of March 2011.

Part of this money will be used to hire a project facilitator for 1 day per week (7 hours).  The facilitator will be fundamental in the continuation of the Museum Service’s programme of activities aimed at engaging community groups primarily over 55 years of age.

Personal Specification

The successful candidate will continue, develop, deliver, evaluate and sustain a programme of outreach activity across Tameside.  The facilitator must be dynamic, self-motivated and highly driven to engage new, non-traditional audiences for the Museum Service as well as nurturing existing relationships.

The facilitator will be imaginative and creative in their ability to discover and highlight the common interests between the Museum Service’s sites, subjects and the aims of community groups.

The facilitator will have excellent organisational skills and must be experienced in delivering a range of activities to a wide variety of audiences both on site and in community venues.

The facilitator will have experience of evaluating the impact of outreach activities and be able to convey those findings both orally to funders and other staff members as well as in regular written reports.

Please apply by sending a CV and a concise covering letter explaining how you meet the project facilitator’s brief.

Applications must be sent to Katie Kennedy, Education Manager, Tameside Museums & Galleries, Portland Place, Ashton-under-Lyne OL7 0QA

Deadline: 12 noon, Monday 15 February 2010

Applications will be accepted by post or email before that time.

Interviews will be held on Monday 22 February 2010
